Battle of Falkirk Muir (1746)

The Vision
Becomes Reality

Background

The Battle of Falkirk Muir was the largest of all the battles fought during the four Jacobite uprisings yet there is little public knowledge or recognition for this historic event.

A charitable Trust is now established to deliver a project with the aim of establishing a Visitor Centre to commemorate the Jacobite risings from 1689 until 1746 with specific reference to The Battle of Falkirk Muir.

The centre will become part of both the geographical community of Falkirk and the community of interest pertaining to Jacobite and wider Scottish and European history.

For a few minutes, go back to the '45 and find out what happened in the dramatic story of the events which led to the battle, the battle itself, and the men who participated in it.  Our YouTube video explains more about the new museum plans and the rare and fascinating artefacts that visitors will be able to see.
